Everywhere I look lately there seems to be more light. Have you noticed this, too?
Brighter and more exuberant.
Yesterday it was -10 degrees and my car groaned on my way to pick the kiddos up from school. As I left my house I noticed a teensy little sundog near the distant mountains. Made of airborne ice crystals. It was so pretty I thought to myself. I've always loved sun-dogs. My mom and sister and I always think of each other when we see one. A telepathic group text in ways.
Well, the closer I drove to town the more magnificent this rainbow in the sky became. It crept up the left side into an arch and then the right side grew to match it. It formed the most incredible multicolored circle around the sun that I've ever seen! Squealing alone in my car bumping along the highway I finally found a spot to pull over and jumped out to take a picture.
The circle itself was holding steady as the clouds moved through it. A rainbow portal. It looked like something I'd imagine finding in outer space and I wondered if anyone else was seeing this, or if it was just me. My husband was an hour or so away and couldn't see it from there. Traffic was flowing steadily along the highway and no one else seemed to notice this fantastic light display in the sky. I'm glad I caught it on camera or I might question if it was real!
I snapped a few photos and a quick video then I simply stood there soaking it in. Or in it.
It was miraculous. A few blinks later and it had completely vanished. Instantly the sky had returned to its pale winter blue hue as if nothing had happened. And off I went to meet the bus, grinning the whole way.

Earlier this week mysterious light pillars in the sky appeared just before the sun came up.
So much beauty. My dream of dreams is to see the Aurora Borealis. Have you seen them before?
I have started a new practice of watching the sunrise and sunset. Everyday that I remember plus I have set reminders on my phone. So far I have noticed an uptick in energy levels, increased happiness and feeling more in tune with the rhythms of nature.
We are light beings, after all. ✨
